a/k/a THE KNITTER'S LOOM
Instructor: Tammy L. Deck
Want to learn to weave but found yourself intimidated by the big looms found in our studio? This class is for you! Learn how to plan a scarf or table runner project, measure the warp threads, thread the rigid heddle and wind on. Weave your project and learn how to remove it from the loom and learn several finishing options available. This is "Real" weaving on a "Real" loom. You'll find a few scarves in our gallery woven by Tammy on our rigid heddle looms (we defy you to discern the difference!) Project Materials and loom use are included in our class fee. Work on your own loom and we'll credit you $20.

Polymer clay is possibly the most versatile medium available to today's artist. On Day one, attendees will learn basic techniques for working with Polymer clay, and how tools can be used to create a virtually unlimited variety of projects. Techniques such as caning, Skinner blends, and covering objects with clay will be included. Day two will continue your exploration by using the clay to imitate other materials such as ivory, bone, and jade. Use this technique to create many different items such as beads or pendants. On Day three, campers learn how to use molds and rubber stamps to enhance polymer clay projects. Use of pre-made molds and the creation of your own molds will be included. Bring your favorite rubber stamps and interesting items you may want to mold. Campers will also learn finishing techniques used to transform your creations from the ordinary to the extraordinary. This clay may be safely and easily used in the home environment. Tool use and several ounces of clay will be provided each day through the class fee.
