The Tree Bark Inspired Scarf 

This style of Wet Felt Scarf has been a *very* popular item for me over the past 2 seasons at the fine art fairs.....I thought you might like to try your hand at it.

I've had numerous requests for a class or kit in this technique, so I got my act together over the past few days...felted up all the color samples....and figured out the step-by-step detailed instructions (including photos). A CLASS IS NOW AVAILABLE, TOO!!.

In true Tammy style...your kits will be hand pulled when your order comes in.  The yarns used are high-end mohair, metallic and other novelty wools.  The wool fiber binder is merino cross.  Some substitutions will be made in individual yarns....but heck...that just means that no two will ever be exactly alike.....why start now?

3 Day "Felt Art.... From the Start"  
Wet Felting with Tammy L Deck

Taos, NM
 

 

May 31 through June 2nd  2008

Tammy will be at the new "Gia Rosa Creativity Studio" in Taos, New Mexico to teach 3 days of felting for  beginners (or those with some experience) called "Felt Art from the Start"  (this does NOT involve knitting or needling!)

Explore this fun, unusual, natural process that by-passes knitting and sewing and  capitalizes on the attributes of wool fibers to turn yarn and un-spun into  unique art fabrics and sculptural objects during this energetic 3 day workshop.  No previous felting experience necessary….no knitting or sewing skills required.  Students will start with a basic flat felt technique and go on to learn about resists in the creation of a purse.  Next is the Free-Hand Felt Lace method to create a scarf and then dimensional felting to create flowers.  Day three explores the laminated felting method (a/k/a Nuno Felt), which is felting through hand painted silk chiffon in the creation of a different style of felt scarf.
