Tammy L Deck began teaching weaving at her commercial studio space located in the Chicago suburb of Westmont back in 1994. She takes great pride and pleasure sharing her passion for fiber art and being able to carry forward creative art techniques that showed signs of falling by the wayside in our contemporary culture.Classes are taught in an environment devoted to patience, reflection and encouragment of individual creative exploration.
Beginners enjoy a nurturing experience as they move step-by-step through the process of marrying pattern, color and texture into woven cloth. Intermediate and advanced students find inspiration and support while growing their skill-set forward as they build on their prior experience(s).
Students work on design center looms but are invited to bring their own (good working condition) portable looms. The studio(s) is/are outfitted with 15 floor and table looms which range in width from 15" to 60" and a selection of 4, 8 and 12 shaft options (new and used looms and equipment are also available for purchase). Rigid Heddle Looms, Inkle Looms, Bead Weaving Looms, Tapestry Looms and Pot Holder Looms are also available for use and or purchase. This Chicagoland Weaving School has other equipment, tools, supplies and classes to complement your weaving and other creative art pursuits.
