The Short Story:

TLD Design Center & Gallery was launched September 1993 by an "Artreprenurial" mother/daughter team following their dreams to create and grow their own creative and fine arts careers which, in turn, allowed them to pay it forward by offering classes, materials, supplies and gallery exhibits to help others in their own creative art journey.

The Longer Story

JoAnn and Tammy Deck had worked together for years, seeking opportunuties to show and sell their original ArtWork. At that time, only a handful of options existed which lead them to conclude they needed to make their own opportunties. Fiber Artist, Tammy (the daughter), was outgrowing her home studio in Bolingbrook, IL and began looking for a suitable space in DuPage County. A search along the metra train line lead her to the off-beat (Artsy) space at 26 E Quincy St, Westmont, IL- (Chicago Near). Initially, a portion of the space functioned as Tammy's fiber art maker's space (JoAnn continued to create art from her home studio) and another portion became their Gallery space. Soon after opening, with a desire to share their gallery with other artists, they began inviting other local and distant artists to display and sell their original art. Juried theme exhibits, group exhibits and solo artist exhibits were/are scheduled each year to bring art collectors and new artists together.

Aproximately a year and a half later, in response to repeated inquiries, Tammy began offering creative art classes. Beginner Loom Weaving, Hand Knitting & Textile Design were the first classes to be offered. The Design Center roster grew to include over 100 different classes and workshops in a variety of art mediums and techniques lead by Tammy together with other accomplished guest artists. The design center was then stocked to be an art supply shop for yarn, threads, wool fiber, fabrics, glass, weaving looms, beads, jewelry metals, paint and other creative art materials, tools and supplies for students and open to the public community of makers, crafters and artists.

December 2013, JoAnn Deck passed away.
Her legacy of artwork remains on display and for sale at TLD and, upon invitation, curated and hung by Tammy in other exhibition spaces.

August 2015, another dream opportunity was realized when Tammy purchased a 2 story Storefront Building at 2619 Ridgeland Ave., Berwyn, IL. Gallery/Shop doors opened in this additional location November of the same year.

January 2017, Two Studio Rooms within TLD Westmont were rented to independent Artists.
